History of the Flowers of the Forest
In support of the “Auld Alliance” with France, the Scottish Army invaded England. King James IV and the "flower " of the Scottish nobility were slain at the Battle of Flodden on September 9, 1513, one of the greatest disasters to befall the country. The pipe tune Flowers of the Forest is a soulful lament during where we take a moment to remember members of our family who have gone before us.
