I’ve been looking at the idea of purchasing a townhouse in Bali. Honestly, it’s a pretty tempting thought, especially with the vibe Bali has. Townhouses seem like a great option if you want something spacious but not as over-the-top as a full villa. Does anyone have experience with Townhouses in Bali and how they work out in terms of renting them out or even living there part-time?

I took the plunge and bought a townhouse in Seminyak, Bali, a couple of years ago. Honestly, it’s been one of the best decisions I’ve made. Townhouses in Bali give you the benefit of more space without the massive upkeep of a villa. I initially thought about buying a villa, but the thought of managing all the extra space and a big garden from abroad seemed too much. Townhouses are more manageable, especially if you’re not there all year. The rental market in Bali is fantastic, especially in areas like Seminyak and Canggu. Lots of expats and long-term tourists are looking for places that aren’t hotels but still offer comfort, and townhouses fit the bill perfectly. Mine gets rented out quite a bit during the year, which helps cover the maintenance costs and even brings in a little extra. Plus, the community vibe you get is nice—more people around, a sense of security, and some shared facilities like a pool. It’s definitely worth considering if you’re looking for something between an apartment and a villa.
